Upon the suggestion of my committee chair I have begun to organize my paper in a different way, by avoiding the screen and experiencing it in a space where all the mandatory points get equal visual coverage through a color coded notecard system. viaWell, it looks like Anna Gaskell isn't the only artist on the fashion scene. A handful of New York artists were chosen to appear in the J. Crew mens catalogue this season, including Ryan McGinness and Vito Acconci. J. Ok, so while I've been crawling the internet looking for RIT MFA Alums to add to the RIT MFA blog, I came across this artist Colette Fu on the EnFoco's website. Her work is really quirky, which I like, and her pop-ups are pretty amazing. While the site leaves something to be desired, her pieces are an interesting juxtaposition of popular imagery and objects, of absurdly menacing miniature scapes.

Working on new images right now, not resolved yet, but I foresee success. Still exploring the way nature is constructed and referenced through different media, but mostly through paper. New image from shooting tonight, using my attic studio for the first time. I finally got it cleaned out enough for usage, yay! My images are seeming to get more interesting, in my opinion. These remind me of prints and imagery from the 50s and 60s, not sure if that's because of the color or the designs. I have been looking at images from old claymation movies.

I made this image in a moment of exasperation after tearing down my studio without any decent pics. I stuffed all my materials into a shopping bag sitting on a fake red leather chair. Turned out nice... the only redeemable image of the day, exhausting.

I forced myself into the studio today. I thought I would be producing work within domestic spaces but it was proving to be a problem with my creative flow; meaning, I make a huge mess working on these constructions cutting and taping etc. so they take a lot of time and a lot of space, and therefore tend to be a burden within my own home space. I made the right decision by returning to the studio.

OK, again I never post to my blog... but I'm back in Houston right now, and I've been thinking a lot about my images I produced this summer, and I'm pretty certain my visual thesis will be based on these images, the construction of space, and the way to use light to lead the eye into the different elements. Some of the images produce more of a painterly effect while some are more chiasm-like. I

We had our preliminary walkthrough, or "mockthrough" today, it didn't go too badly, but I'm not really happy with the images I have to present for walkthrough. Ok, this is my new blog. Yay!!The quarter's almost over, I can't believe it's been 10 weeks, so it's crunch time. I'm not so much stressed out as I am exhausted.
